Workshop!
Brett Cox, John Langan, Sarah Langan, and I are running a horror writing workshop at Litreactor. We’re donating our proceeds to help support our beloved Shirley Jackson Awards.
Spread the word and/or take the class. I’ll be fun. I promise.
Class starts June 4th. Workshop details are here.
Saw that. It looks great. I’ll help spread the word.
Gah! Wish I had the cash to spare…
I’m sorry I missed this. It has an excellent premise that horror fiction can be true literature, if writers can get out of the current “pulp fiction” mindset when it comes to horror and can get back to its roots in the works of writers like Lovecraft, M.R. James, Edward Lucas White, Arthur Machen, etc. There are three excellent articles on writing horror I have read since yesterday and that I recommend highly: one by Robert Gray at Hellnotes.com, one by David (?) Taylor at Writing World, and, of course, one at the website of the Horror Writers Association website. All echo what is expressed in the description of this workshop.
Thanks for stopping by, Phil.
